DNS Lookup

The Domain Name System (DNS) handles records that map names into IP addresses.

The most common DNS record types are the following:

  • A - Maps hostnames to IPv4 Addresses
  • AAAA - Maps hostnames to IPv6 Addresses
  • MX - Mail Exchange Records are used by email programs
  • NS - Name Server Records list where the DNS information is held
  • TXT - Text Records contain extra information

Usage

  • Enter a domain name
  • Click lookup
  • View the records returned results
  • Interact with the records by clicking on them to bring up contextual actions
